As far as the BSG remake, I always thought it was watchable if nothing else was one, but I never really liked it.

The original show, focused a lot on exploration. They'd go down to a planet to check it out, and there'd be actual aliens rather than every planet being completely devoid of indigenous life! (even if most of said aliens looked identical to humans  ;) )  Then something would happen down on the planet and they'd get in some trouble they'd have to resolve and that would be the episode. After that was settled, they'd move on investigating planets for any signs of the 13th tribe.

The remake seems to largely focus on internal conflict in the fleet, all the different political agendas and paranoid people. It just seems so over-dramatic and serious. The "human form" Cylons felt like a total cop-out at first, but I got over it.

Putting that aside, I'm not really ragging on the show- just explaining how I perceived it.
The remake does have excellent CG and the music that goes with the ship battles and whatnot.
What I had never been able to understand was why all the ships looked so amazing, and the Cylon Centurions always looked like complete crap!

Today, I was poking around a Farscape forum and now I understand the situation. This is a little article by the former Visual FX consultant (from seasons 2 and 3).

This is a scene he had put together:

That's what a Centurion should look like. The shadows and the reflection on the surface make it feel real.

Once he finished, he passed it off to his supervisors who then added their own "fine touches". After these "fine touches", this is what was put into the final cut of the episode:

That's HORRIBLE!!  >:(
The guy had it perfect and they stroll in and screw it up. Now we know why they always look so awful.

It's still watchable, but even so.......
